Information for this week’s Performance/Rehearsal!!!

Back To School Night

THURSDAY October 5, 2017 

From what I have been told in the past rehearsal for Back To School night is usually extended due to the number of people that are at Back To School Night.  We are going to turn this into a performance opportunity.

 We would like to invite all Parents out to the Stadium at 9:30 pm
to watch a full run of the show.

Rehearsal will end at 9:45 pm on Thursday.

There is NO GAME this week. Please enjoy your Friday Night.

Competition is at Clearview Regional High School this week.

 

Report Time is 11:00 am.  Please eat before you attend.
Load at approximately 2:00 pm 
Leave approximate 5:30 pm
Return to the High School at approximately 10:45 – 11:00 pm.

  I am aware that there are SAT’s on this day.  If your child is planning on taking the SAT’s on Saturday, please tell them to make sure I know before Saturday.

 This is an extremely important show for us.  The next couple of performances
are going to set us up for placement going into the
Region Championships as well as the Atlantic Coast Championships.

We need your help please!!!!  We want and need you!!!!  We are need parents to help move props, move equipment, loading the truck and managing our
Championship Show on October 22.

 Payment Schedule for the New Orleans Trip

 

Here are the dates of the next payments due of the Trip.

 September 30 – $300
October 16 – $400
November 1 – $400
November 16 – Balance is due.

 

If you have any questions you can see Mr. Spencer.  Mr. C is helping Mr. Spencer with the trip and is handling the money so if there are any questions you may also ask him.

 People are asking about information on the trip.  I still do not have a hard count of the students that are attending this trip.  We have people who are saying that they are going but have not made a payment yet and people who have decided not to go.

 I can’t give you any flight information until we have a hard number and can confirm the flight information.  Please make a decision no later than Saturday as to whether or not you are planning on attending this trip.

Update from 9/25/2017

Information for this week’s Performance/Rehearsal!!!

Game Vs. Rancocas Valley (Home)
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH 
Report Time is 5:00pm
Game Start Time is 7:00pm
Pregame line up will be at 6:50PM.

 Pregame Concert is TBD.  I am not 100% sure we are going to do a Pre-Game Concert this week.  We need to be prepared to watch the Rancocas Valley Marching Band during Pregame if they do come to the game.  All Students must be at the stadium no later than 6:30pm.

 There is no game or rehearsal on Friday night.  Enjoy your night off.

  •  Saturday Rehearsal

Rehearsal on Saturday will be from 11am – 6pm

Please eat before you attend rehearsal and students are responsible to bring a dinner or a snack for the evening.  We will give the students a 30 minute break to eat something around 4:00pm.

 I am aware that there is a Car Wash that some of our students are involved in.  We are going to work around that and those students will attend rehearsal after they are done. 

 This is an extremely important week for us as we are going finish the show and hopefully be able to clean up the parts that will help us get to better performances.

  •  Attendance

 Attendance has been a problem since I took over the program.  I am trying to be proactive instead of reactive.  We need everyone at rehearsals in order to get better.  When people are not at rehearsal we are not like the other sports teams where we can put in a substitute.  We are not able to do this as we just have a hole in our formations and sometimes are missing some key players.

 If your child is not in school, please email me or have them email me telling me that they are absent from school.   I can not keep getting told after the rehearsal is over that the student was sick or that they could not make it to rehearsal.

 Students also need to talk to me prior to leaving rehearsal if there is a problem.  There have been a number of issues that have happened where a student waits to tell me of an issue and sends me an email instead of telling me in person.

 Missing rehearsals and Performances will result in lowered grades.  Please review the Attendance Policy in the Handbook.

Hello Marching Band Families,

Here are a few updates for this week and other upcoming events.

Football Friday vs. Shawnee (away)
Report time is 4:00 PM

Competition Saturday at Collingswood
Report time is 10:30 AM
Performance time is 5:30PM

  • At rehearsal tonight you will be able to purchase tickets for Saturday’s competition.  We are given a certain amount of tickets for each show ahead of time.  At the end of the season we will receive money back from all of those sales.  Please, whenever possible, purchase tickets from the band room at not the ticket counter at the show.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students/senior citizens (65+).  

 

  • Saturday’s competition is at Collingswood.  We will be feeding the kids at the HS prior to going to the comp.  There will be a variety of hoagies and a vegetarian choice.  If this is not something your child will eat please send an alternate meal with them on Saturday.

 

  • If you are interested in chaperoning future events (football games and competitions) please email Wendy with your contact information at chaperones@wthsmb.com.  She will get in touch with you when she has an opening for a chaperone.  Please note that you will ride the bus with the students when you chaperone. 

 

  • The comedy show is scheduled for November 11, 2017 at 6pm. This year it will be at the Whitman Square Fire Hall.  New venue, great food, great comedians.  BYOB.  Tickets are $35 and are available tonight (and every Thursday) at 8:30pm. If you plan on coming, please purchase your tickets early.  They will not be available at the door.  Attached you will find an order form for the comedy show tickets.  The order form and payment, placed in a labeled envelope, can be put in the red mailbox in the back of the band room.

 

  • Don’t forget we will need all hands on deck on October 22.  We are hosting the TOB Region 1 Championships.  We are also in need of a parent to chair the committee for this event.  Please reply to this email or contact anyone on the executive board if you are interested in this position.

 

  • If you have not paid for your child’s dinkles (white shoes) please do so ASAP.  They are $30.  This can also be placed in the red mailbox in the band room.
