2019 WTHS Marching Band Staff

Calvin M. Spencer, Director of Bands 

Calvin M. Spencer serves as the Director of Bands at Washington Township High School.  Mr. Spencer is currently in his 14th year of teaching.  Prior to this, Mr. Spencer was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and was a featured soloist with “The Commandant’s Own”, the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.  Sgt. Spencer has had the honor of being a featured soloist for President George W. Bush’ in 2002 as well as performing for President Bill Clinton, Her Majesty The Queen of England, The Sultan of Oman, government officials of Norway and other dignitaries and Heads of State throughout the world.

Mr. Spencer served as the Drum Major for the University of Akron’s Marching Band as well as Principal Trumpet for the university’s Symphonic & Jazz Bands.  He traveled the United States as a guest speaker and clinician having worked with a number of local and nationally known and accredited marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles.  Mr. Spencer earned a B.M. from Rowan University in 2006 and an M.S. in Education from Walden University in 2009.  He is also an active freelance musician in the tri-state area and resides in Blackwood, NJ.  

Niki Williams, Assistant Marching Band Director

Niki Williams is excited to return for her third marching band season with the WTHS Marching Band as the Assistant Marching Band Director.  Miss Niki is also the Indoor Color Guard Director here at WTHS.  She was a member of the color guard program at Deptford High School (1998-2001) and marched in the Jersey Surf Drum & Bugle Corps (2001).  

Miss Niki has worked with several area high school marching bands, indoor color guard programs and Delazure at the University of Delaware.  She is currently the Director for the Independent A Class AMP Winterguard from Camden, NJ.  

Samantha Burns, Marching Band Color Guard & Color Guard Instructor

Samantha Burns is a returning instructor to the Washington Township Marching Band and Color Guard staff for the 2019-2020 season.  Samantha began her marching band career with four years at the WTHS Marching Band and Indoor Color Guard (2008-2011).  After graduating high school, she marched for two years with the Co-Motion Open Winterguard (2012-2013).  She found her love for teaching color guard at WTHS in 2012 and has been teaching here ever since.  She serves as a Color Guard Instructor for both the WTHS Marching Band and Indoor Color Guard.

Samantha has been a part of the Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps Color Guard staff since 2016.  In addition, she joined the AMP Winterguard staff in 2019, working with Independent A class group.  She holds a B.A. in Psychology and MSW from Rutgers University-Camden.  

Natalie Dalesandro, Marching Band Color Guard & Color Guard Consultant

Natalie Dalesandro is a returning instructor to the Washington Township Marching Band and Color Guard staff for the 2019-2020 season. Natalie was a member of the WTHS Marching Band Color Guard (2013-2015).  After taking a short break, she returned to WTHS wanting to give back to the program she loved.  Natalie has been an instructor for Washington Township Marching Band Color Guard and Indoor Color Guard since 2017. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a focus in Special Education at Rowan University.  

Kristy Snyder, Marching Band Color Guard & Color Guard Instructor

Kristy Beohmer is a returning instructor to the Washington Township Marching Band and Color Guard staff for the 2019-2020 season.  Kristy previously marched with Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the Color Guard (2007-2010).  She then went to march with The Cadets in 2011 and aged out in 2012.  Her indoor color guard experience includes 8 years  as a marching member of Black Watch Indoor Color Guard and was Caption Head in 2014-2015.  This will be Kristy’s sixth year of teaching color guard at WTHS.  Kristy holds a degree in OT from Stockton University  (2017) and currently works with older adults in a skilled nursing facility.  

Allison McMunn, Marching Band Staff

Allison McMunn is a first year instructor to the Washington Township Marching Band and Color Guard staff for the 2019-2020 season.  Allison marched 4 years in the Deptford High School Marching Band (2012-2016) and 3 years in the Deptford High School Indoor Color Guard.  She is currently a member of The Hawthorne Caballeros Color Guard (2017-present) and a member of AMP A (2019). 

Rob Weidamoyer, Marching Band Staff 

Born and raised in Southeastern PA, Rob Weidamoyer has been a presence in the Mid-Atlantic music education scene for over two decades.  After holding every available position from Instructor to Director with stops along the way as Caption Head, Program Coordinator and Designer, Rob’s extensive experience in various roles has molded his approach to teaching, composing, arranging and leadership into a style which makes the education of his students paramount, while sill meeting the overall goals of an organization.  He considers his most notable achievement to be the long list of students who have experienced success at the highest levels, particularly those now teaching and writing for their own concert, jazz and marching ensembles.  

A dual career background in music education and public safety gives Rob a unique perspective regarding the evolving demands of learning and social environments facing today’s students, as well as necessary to ensure their overall health and welfare.  An alumnus of Penn State, Rob holds degrees in Business, Organizational Leadership and is currently the Head of Safety for a non-profit arts partnership in Philadelphia, PA.  During the rare times Rob isn’t working or performing, he enjoys spending time with his also overscheduled, artistic family and their Siberian Husky.  

Shawn Blubaugh, Marching Band Staff

Shawn Blubaugh is a returning instructor to the Washington Township Marching Band for the 2019-2020 season. Shawn began participating in the marching arts starting in the 8th grade when he joined the marching band at Deptford Township High School. At Deptford, Shawn played alto saxophone for three years and was Drum Major for his final two seasons. After high school, Shawn attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he joined the 400-member UMass Minuteman Marching Band. He marched alto saxophone for two years and was Drum Major of the band his Junior and Senior years.

Shawn’s instructional experience includes: Gateway Regional High School Marching Band (2014), Timber Creek Regional High School Marching Band and Indoor Winds Program (2015 & 2016), Washington Township High School Marching Band (2017-present) and Haddon Heights Indoor Percussion (2018- present).  Shawn has also spent many summers at the George N. Park Drum Major Academy, teaching leadership and conducting skills to thousands of high school Drum Majors.

Shawn currently works in the front office for the Philadelphia Phillies as a Season and Group Sales Representative. In his spare time, he continues to pursue his love of music by playing Baritone Saxophone and serving as the Captain of the Greater Kensington String Band.
